Apparently it's fall...oops, I mean, late fall! I'll try to keep my update "quick" but there are so many fun and exciting things that have happened with Wyatt. I will pretend I'm writing these things in the moment instead of months later. I understand if you'd like to skim down to the current pictures and information.
We had a pretty full summer. What I loved most was getting to have Wyatt be a part of so many of the summer traditions that Nate and I love.
Nate's first Father's Day request was to go on a hike. This was our first with Wyatt. We went on the Boundary trail. Wyatt was a trooper in the ergo, looking around happily and taking a snooze. We stopped at our favorite post Mt. Baker hike spot, the North Fork Brewery which is a pizza place, wedding chapel and beer shrine in one.
We took Wyatt to Malibu, the Young Life camp in Canada. He got passed from teenager to teenager, witnessed all the excitement of music, games and friendly competition and got to see this beautiful place that's part of our lives.
At 7 months Wyatt is a lot the same as 6th months.
He is eating all purees consisting of simple fruit/veggie combos.
The only things he has disliked is peaches which I think are too sour when made as baby food.
He got a second tooth next to the first.
He's pushing himself in circles which is still the preferred way to travel.
Oh, but at 8 months!!
He began army crawling just before 8 months...July 29th to be exact. He pulls with his arms and pushes off his toes and groans like it's the hardest thing he's ever done...which it is!
Some purees he enjoys: Beets/zucchini, Raspberry/spinach,beet, pears (yum!)
Kale/blueberry/apple/nectarine
He's liking oatmeal in his food and is just beginning to not spit out food that has some form to it.
Our little family lived in a hotel room for 2 and a half weeks in Austin Texas while Nate got trained for a new job (his old company sadly got bought out and closed down.) He is still selling insurance but now doing it at home and is self-employed! (perhaps more about this all being done in our tiny condo later.) While Nate was working, Wyatt and I explored the city and got to know the day workers at the hotel!
At 9 months Wyatt is 20lb, 2 oz (45th percentile) and 29 inches long. (81st percentile.)
He...
...popped out three teeth on the top.
...is crawling on hands and knees. In the beginning he groaned like it was the hardest thing he'd ever done, which it was!
...is pulling up on the couches, chairs, his stool, the oven...sometimes groaning like it's the hardest thing he's ever done, which it is!
Has eaten bits of:
red and green pepper
salmon, turkey, pork, beef
tomato
watermelon
blueberries
apple
zucchini
bread
sweet potato
olive
rice
beans
egg...
And liked it all!
He's sleeping from 7:3ish till 5 or 6ish, eating and then sleeping for a couple more hours so we are thrilled.
Wyatt has discovered puffs! You know, those little, round, organic things that have veggies infused into them and taste like crispy air? Oh, the joys of puffs. I believe they were created for giving parents some peaceful time at the dinner table while their child develops that coveted "pincer" grasp and practices "chewing skills."
We went on a trip to Wisconsin and Illinois to visit friends and family. I hope to write about that some other time but I'll mention that Wyatt got to have his first swinging experience and LOVED it.
At 10 months Wyatt...
Has stood on his own for about 1 second and then safely crouches to the ground.
Says:
heee (Hi-eeee)
omm (home)
mama (but doesn't really understand)
geee!!! (peek (gee) a-boo) Also, he plays peek a boo himself by "hiding" his face with his hands and moving them.
He began waving hello and goodbye about a week or two after nine months but it takes a bit of encouragement and often happens as soon as the person has stopped waiting for the wave.
He also likes to turns the page when reading which is his favorite part and would happily only turn pages rather than actually listen to the story.
He had his first ER visit and unexplainable rash (maybe will write more another time?)
Wyatt will eat anything as long as he is reminded to "chew chew chew" but taking bites of things is still a bit confusing.
Wyatt shared his 10 month with Nate's 33 years.
AT 11 months...
Wyatt...
...started signing "more"
...began clapping
...is cruising along furniture
...stands with no help for a few seconds but not on purpose...mostly so he can clap his hands or tap tap tap some toys together.
...he sometimes says "dadeee!" although kind of like mama it's not consistent :-)
We don't really notice him saying specific words as much anymore but he's "talking" tons with lots of really great intonations and he always seems to be in on a joke when he's smiling at us!
When we pick him up from the nursery at church or when we get home from having a babysitter he will "run" to us (on his hands and knees) as fast as he can in enthusiasm. He has not had any issue with stranger anxiety (a result of being a Young Life baby??)
He has changed his peek-a-boo playing to crouching behind and peeking out at us which is oh so cute.
Well, either I need to keep up with my updates better, be more concise or expect only family members to read this but at least now a few dedicated people will be well aware of the happenings of this littlest Buri.

At nine months I was sure he looked like Nate, but that 11 month leaning back shot looks so much like Josiah to me!!!
ReplyDeleteSuch precious memories! So fun to see your pictures, Rachel. Have you seen Elizabeth's FB page? Her baby, Andrew, is almost 5 months old now. I'm sure she would be glad to friend you and to hear from you! ~Mary French
