Fly guy WyGuy!

We've got a traveler on our hands folks!

In our dreams we will have kids who are flexible, adventurous, and who love to see, do and eat new things.  They will be eager to travel to new destinations and cultures to get a glimpse of life outside their norm and will look forward to each excursion they get to partake in. Who knows if Wyatt has these traits, but he was a CHAMP during his first big trip...across the country none the less!

This particular trip was a great way to get our feet wet, with some kind of crazy logistics that worked out surprisingly well.  Nate's work awards convention was in Clearwater Florida this year.  Since we knew that we'd have a new tiny baby the plan was for me to miss it this year and stay home with Wyatt.  Well, Nate went ahead and got his best standing yet, NUMBER 1 in the company! This is a huge deal.  This trip would recognize his amazing accomplishment and would include a bonus day for his results.  Unfortunately, the company cannot allow ANYONE under 21 at any of the events.  So, how to allow us all to go?  Enter Andrea, Nate's sister and Ann, Nate's mom!  They came to Florida too, to be Wyatt's nannies!  They were with him the entire time.  We got to travel with him, visit with him every day AND participate in all the events.

For all 4 flights, there and back, Wyatt slept in our arms pretty much the entire time!  We swaddled him up and he was out, which is quite unusual for him.

Who knew there's a changing table
                                                                     on the plane?
He's usually not a very messy baby, but this adorable flying outfit was spit on and pooped on within half an hour of putting it on!  At least we got a picture!
Lounging. Aren't those sunglasses amazing?
Nate and I had early morning business meetings and informal awards....while Wyatt, Andrea and Ann were...
sleeping...
riding in the ergo... sitting in the hotel room...
eating...(look, no hands!)
We got a 20 minute glimpse of afternoon sunshine but mostly this Florida weather was 60 degrees and cloudy, OR down pouring.

I didn't get any photos with my camera during the actual awards gala, but they did a great job of honoring the hard work that was done and it was so fun to see Nate rewarded for his success.  I'm so proud of him!

All in all, with Auntie Andrea and Grandma to play with plus cuddles during nap time, Wyatt seems to think this traveling thing isn't a bad idea at all!

Hangin' around the house

It's fun to see how Wyatt has changed from a baby who just eats and sleeps and stares (throw crying in there too) to one that will smile in response, who will watch us walk around the room, talk with us and who will "entertain" himself by looking at all the things going on around him. (Still throw some crying in there.)
Mom watched Wyatt while we went and took care of things before our big trips.  We returned to find her "strolling" him up and down our hallway in a shopping cart that our building uses to get groceries upstairs.  She gets points for innovation...we showed her how the stroller gets set up after that!

The red outfit belonged to Nate and was worn in a similar picture with his dad.

I confess I was trying to hold his double chin in...

Taking a break from tummy time.  Back time is much easier.

I love this picture, partly because he's happy in the stroller, partly because this little bear is making him smile so much just because it tickles his chin.  Squeezy Bear is our new favorite thing because Wyatt will lick it and suck on it and rub it on his face or just squeeze him and this happy face often is the result. We don't think he "recognizes" him yet, but it almost looks like it!

Real little man clothes!

1/4 of a year!

I've jotted down some notes as the months have gone by but haven't posted yet.  I guess I'm catching up a bit. The details may be for only the true Wyatt fans.

At 1 month Wyatt:
  • Weighs 10 pounds, 3 ounces and is 22.5 inches long
  • Often sleeps with his hand by his head, just like the way he was born.
  • Likes his hands on his chest or by his mouth at all times.
  • We think will have blue eyes but we can't be sure yet.
  • Hasn't lost his long wild hair but it's getting lighter.
  • Still isn't nursing. He eats pumped milk from a syringe or a bottle.
  • Happily does 5 minutes of tummy time where he practices moving his head to the left, middle and right.  This has to be right after he ate for the happy part to be there.
  • Fits in newborn clothes still but is beginning to fill out 0-3 month ones too.
These were right around Christmas time.

Taking a break from tummy time.

In his second month, Wyatt...
  • Weighs 12 pounds, 15 ounces and is 24 1/4  inches long.
  • Has peed on the floor of the hospital each time he's been weighed.
  • Learned to nurse at 5 and a half weeks.
  • Started to smile around 6 weeks.
  • Smiles almost immediately when he sees Daddy's face.
  • Has accidentally rolled from his stomach to back twice.
  • Prefers to face out and look at the world.

Wyatt helped us advertise our trivia night for YL and did a mighty fine job of it.

He's getting used to his stroller rides which I try to take him on every day.

Doesn't he look so different when he smiles?

At 3 months, Wyatt...
  • Weighs...I don't know how much he weighs...he doesn't have a 3 month appointment!  However, everyone loves his chubby cheeks!
  • Has not rolled over since his accidental times weeks ago.
  • Hates tummy time but is excellent at holding his head on his own when sitting on our laps.
  • Generally sleeps for about a 5 hour chunk and a 3 hour chunk at night BUT has given us a few 6, 7 and 8 hour chunks as well.
  • Is talking a lot with his favorite word being "ahgoo." He will talk back and forth with someone for quite some time, especially in the mornings.
  • Is sooo much happier in the car and playing on his own for a few minutes, especially if he has something to squeeze and lick to entertain him...hence, his favorite toy, "Squeezy Bear."
  • Flew to Florida for Nate's work convention and slept for almost the entire time of all 4 flights...thank goodness!
  • Is taking his second vacation to Vegas and Arizona exactly when he turns 3 months.  He gets to see Gonzaga play in their tournament and visit his grandparents!

Don't worry, he's still got the hair!
